# Visa Original Credit Transaction (OCT) - A new mandate

An Original Credit Transaction (OCT) is a Visa transaction type which allows the transfer of funds to an eligible Visa account. One of the most common examples of these transfer types is passing gambling winnings back to a card used to place a bet or buy poker chips. This is often also known as a [Payout](/products/card-payouts).

Visa has mandated that by 30 September 2021 merchants, gateways, and third-party affiliates supporting OCTs must now capture certain customer data for OCT transactions in specific geographical regions. The table below details what information must be captured.

## In summary

You must include the `address` fields if:

* you are a merchant based in Canada
* your customer uses a card issued in Canada


You do **not** need to supply this if you are a merchant outside Canada making an OCT transaction to a card issued outside Canada. We do, however, recommend including the address fields as they can increase your authorization rate.
